Srinagar : Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FS&CA), Information Technology (IT), Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma, Thursday met several delegations at Srinagar and had detailed feedback on a wide range of issues concerning the public service delivery and departmental functioning across Kashmir.
During the interaction the delegations presented their concerns to the Minister of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, focusing on issues related to essential commodities, transport connectivity, and sports infrastructure in Kashmir. The representatives emphasized the need for the Minister’s intervention to address local challenges, particularly regarding the availability and distribution of essential goods, as well as the operational effectiveness of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department. The Minister highlighted the necessity of ensuring a consistent supply of essential commodities, especially in areas facing logistical difficulties. He directed that public grievances be thoroughly examined and underscored the importance of a responsive and transparent delivery mechanism. Additionally, the delegations raised concerns about public transport services, advocating for improved connectivity across Kashmir. Satish Sharma pointed out the critical role of an efficient transport network for various community members, including students and patients, and called for a comprehensive assessment of transport needs and better resource allocation. In discussions about sports infrastructure, Sharma stressed the importance of expanding facilities beyond urban centers to promote sports among youth in rural areas. He advocated for the development of grassroots talent and the enhancement of training opportunities for young athletes. Furthermore, the Minister met with representatives from Common Service Centres (CSCs), who outlined challenges faced by CSC operators. Acknowledging the vital role of CSCs in delivering digital services, the Minister assured that their concerns would be addressed in consultation with relevant authorities, ensuring that their issues are considered within existing policies and frameworks.
