Authorities issue advisory for flash floods, landslides, waterlogging across vulnerable distts
Srinagar: The Meteorological Centre has issued a weather warning predicting severe rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir between August 16 and 19.
Ahead of this major spell, light to moderate rainfall is expected at many places through August 14 and 15, primarily during late night and early morning hours, followed by brief afternoon showers. The weather office cautioned that “torrential rain and brief intense showers may trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides and waterlogging in low-lying areas,” with heavy downpours targeted at select districts in the Jammu division and Kashmir Valley. Scattered light rain will likely persist from August 20 to 22, with commuters advised to remain alert along hilly routes.
