Police file FIR following allegations of ₹5 lakh demand, Intimidation with PSA detentions

Srinagar : Police have registered a criminal case against BJP Pulwama District President Er Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi following a formal extortion and intimidation complaint filed by a local contractor. The case (FIR No. 0145/2026) was registered at Police Station Pulwama under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The complainant, engaged in permitted soil extraction for Gurudwara Parbandhak work in Barthana, alleged that Andrabi obstructed work vehicles at Parigam on August 8, recorded workers, and demanded a ₹5 lakh bribe. The complaint further alleges that Andrabi threatened workers with detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and had previously coerced payments totaling ₹54,000 in November 2025. Police are currently verifying site permissions, bank transactions, and witness statements.
