Srinagar : The Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) has received commendations from senior government officials and international delegates during the IFAD Project Partners Learning Forum and Project Directors’ Meet held in Srinagar.
The university’s initiatives under the Jammu & Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Programme (JKCIP), particularly in the areas of incubation, start-ups, and collectivization, were highlighted as significant contributions to agricultural innovation and entrepreneurship in the region. The event featured notable attendees, including the Chief Secretary of J&K, Mr. Atal Dulloo, and representatives from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). The IFAD Country Director expressed particular admiration for SKUAST-K’s role in fostering women-led start-ups and creating an enabling environment through innovation, mentorship, and market linkages, which are crucial for empowering women entrepreneurs and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai was recognized for his strategic vision and commitment to enhancing SKUAST-K’s initiatives. His focus on developing a robust agribusiness ecosystem and providing opportunities for rural youth and women has been pivotal in advancing the university’s objectives under the JKCIP, thereby contributing to the overall growth of the agricultural sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
