Over 4.76 Lakh Pilgrims Perform Darshan as Annual Yatra Enters Final Phase
Srinagar : With three weeks remaining in the 57-day annual pilgrimage, 5,095 devotees paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine on Friday, bringing the total number of pilgrims this season to 4,76,683. The day’s turnout included 2,871 men, 1,544 women, 25 children, 61 sadhus, eight sadhvis, three transgender devotees, and 583 security personnel.
Reports said that amid tight security arrangements, the 29th batch of 926 pilgrims departed from Jammu’s Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas early Friday morning in a 42-vehicle convoy, traveling via the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway toward the Baltal base camp. The alternative Pahalgam route remains temporarily closed. Simultaneously, the 27th down-convoy carrying 133 returning pilgrims safely departed Baltal for Jammu. The annual pilgrimage, which commenced on July 3, is scheduled to conclude on August 28.
