Jammu : Commissioner Secretary, Information Technology department, Saurabh Bhagat, formally took possession of 23 rooms in the erstwhile ACB Building behind the Civil Secretariat, Jammu, allotted to the Information Technology Department. DIG, Anti-Corruption Bureau, Vikas Gupta; Special Secretary IT, Showkat Mehmood; Additional Secretary IT, Devender Singh Bhau; Deputy Secretary IT, Head SeMT, I/C IT Cell, technical officers, and other departmental officials were also present on the occasion.
The Commissioner Secretary of IT has announced the establishment of a new facility designed to serve as a dedicated IT Hub for the Department. This expanded infrastructure aims to accommodate the growing technical workforce and facilitate improved coordination among various functional areas. It is intended to meet the evolving demands of technological and digital governance, thereby enhancing the Department’s ability to drive innovation and accelerate e-Governance initiatives, ultimately improving the efficiency of public service delivery. The facility will provide a collaborative work environment tailored to the needs of officials and technical teams across the Information Technology Department. It is expected to support efficient project implementation and bolster digital governance initiatives while also allowing for future expansion and capacity-building efforts. A significant component of this facility will be the establishment of a Security Operations Centre (SOC) and a Network Operations Centre (NOC). These centers will function as centralized command facilities to protect the Government’s digital infrastructure, ensuring the continuous operation of critical IT systems through real-time monitoring and rapid incident response. Additionally, the new building will feature a state-of-the-art Video Conferencing Room, equipped with advanced communication technology, which will be accessible to various Government Departments for virtual meetings and collaborative efforts. Overall, the new premises are set to significantly enhance the operational capacity of the Information Technology Department, providing the necessary resources to support its mission and objectives.
