Jammu/Jan,22: One civilian was killed and two others critically injured in overnight firing on the International border in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the death toll to 12 in past four days.
“Two brothers, Ram Dass Bawa and Gopal Dass Bawa of Kanachak received grievous injuries after a mortar shell landed on their house,” said a police officer.
“Both were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu where Gopal Dass Bawa was declared brought dead while condition of Ram Dass is also stated to be critical,” said the officer.
A woman, Bimla Devi, wife of Bua Ditta of Kanachak recieved splinters injuries and was admitted at GMC&H.
With this killing, the death has mounted to 12 in firing and shelling that began on Thursday in five districts of Jammu division.
Earlier, seven civilians and five forces’ personnel were killed in the firing exchange.
“Pakistan Army opened heavy fire and shot 120 mm mortars on several forward Indian villages and posts along the International Border,” said a BSF spokesperson.
“The firing has covered whole area of Pargwal, Mad, RS Pura, Arnia and Ramgarh,” he said and added the cross border fire stopped at 0545 hr
