Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized 26 vehicles for being involved in illegal mining activities across Baramulla, Ganderbal, and Shopian districts.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday Police said that two vehicles were intercepted at Babateng in Pattan (Baramulla), 19 vehicles—including tippers, tractors, and a JCB—were seized across various jurisdictions in Ganderbal, and five vehicles were impounded during routine patrolling in Shopian. Action has been initiated under the MMDR Act, with several seized vehicles handed over to the Geology & Mining Department for penalty imposition. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to protect natural resources and appealed people to report illegal mining activities.
