Dalai Lama Named for Top Honor
Leh: Addressing the dPal rNgam Doston 2026 celebrations on UT Ladakh Foundation Day, Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena stated that “development is impossible without strong infrastructure,” detailing how the road network expanded from 1,799 km in 2019 to over 4,063 km, bridges grew from 19 to 72, and Zoji La Pass winter closures dropped from 127 days to 16 days. Highlighting breakthroughs like the Zoji La and Shyok La tunnels, upcoming Leh Airport terminal completion, five new districts, tap water reach expanding from 3.5% to 99%, and tourist visits projected to cross 400,000, LG Saxena announced the Supranam Doston Award 2026 for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the Lifetime Achievement Award posthumously for Kargil hero Late Colonel Sonam Wangchuk, MVC.
