Srinagar: Questioning the Members of Parliament demand for upgradation of their seats to business class in flights that are vacant in the premium cabin, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah said that the MPs already get a quota of Business Class seats in addition to Club Class tickets in a year.
An MP gets 34 free air journeys in a year, can be accompanied by a companion, and can travel business class. If a member doesn’t utilise all 34 tickets, the remaining ones are carried over to the next year.
“Incidentally Hon’ble MPs get a quota of Business Class seats in addition to Club Class tickets for sessions & meetings so why the need for an upgrade?” Mr Abdullah, who is the working president of National Conference (NC), wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
“Here’s an idea – pay for a business class seat. It’s an idea who’s time has come,” he added.
