Srinagar : The Jammu & Kashmir Cabinet on Tuesday approved several major development proposals aimed at boosting tourism and infrastructure across the Union Territory.
Sources revealed that approval was granted to outsource the operations and maintenance of Hotel Ashok at Gulmarg through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model for a 40-year concession period, which includes a five-year construction phase. This follows the J&K Tourism Department’s repossession of 64 kanals of land originally leased to ITDC in 1984. Additionally, the Cabinet approved setting up an IT/Innovation Park in collaboration with IIT Jammu and sanctioned key land transfers, including four kanals in Hiranagar for a cafeteria, over four kanals in Sonpah for a Craft Village, and over seven kanals in Behibagh for an Army Goodwill School. Promotion of 28 JKAS officers was also cleared, with nine advancing to the Special Scale and 18 to the Selection Grade.
