Srinagar : The Senior Division and Senior Wing NCC units of Government Gandhi Memorial Science College in Jammu organized Solo and Group National Anthem competitions as part of the Independence Day celebrations, aimed at fostering patriotism and national integration among cadets.
The events, held under the guidance of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, were part of a nationwide program running from August 3 to 15. The Senior Wing event was supervised by the 8 J&K Girls Battalion, led by Associate NCC Officer Lt. (Dr.) Shafia Saleem, while the Senior Division was overseen by the 2 J&K Battalion, guided by Lt. (Dr.) Devinder Kumar Sharma. Participation was robust, with cadets showcasing their patriotic spirit and musical abilities. In the Solo competition, Cadet Swastika Sharma achieved first place, followed by Cadet Arya Sharma in second. The Group competition saw the Senior Division team, including Cadets Varun Sharma, Harveet Singh, Arya Sharma, and Anand Saini, take first prize, while the Senior Wing team, comprising Cadets Swastika Sharma, Adity Verma, Priyanka Devi, and Niharika Sharma, secured second. Judges Prof. Dr. Rajesh Sharma and Prof. Dr. Revika Arora praised the cadets for their enthusiasm and dedication. Principal Gupta congratulated the winners and encouraged all cadets to embody the values of patriotism, discipline, and unity. Both Lt. Saleem and Lt. Sharma emphasized the importance of such activities in promoting national integration and developing responsible citizens.
