Baramulla : Police on Monday said that it has booked four and seized two for being used in illegal mining activities in Baramulla.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Police said that officers intercepted two tippers (JK01L-5608 and JK02BV-9097) carrying sand and stone without valid royalty permits during routine naka checking. The matter was referred to the Geology & Mining Department; the tipper carrying sand was released after paying a fine, while the tipper carrying stone was seized after failing to pay the penalty.I n a separate action during area patrolling at Palpora, Palhallan, police seized two tractors (JK05E-4245 and Chassis No. WACE61618955538) involved in unauthorized mineral extraction. The vehicles were operated by Muntazir Sultan Dar and Faizan Bilal Reshi, both residents of Palpora. Legal action has been initiated against them under the MMDR Act. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining and appealed people to report any unlawful activity to the nearest police station.
