Srinagar : Inspector General Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone V.K. Birdi (IPS) on Monday chaired a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar to assess the prevailing security scenario and prepare for upcoming events across the Valley.
The meeting was attended by top officers from various security wings, including IG BSF, IG CRPF, DIGs of SSB, ITBP, RPF, CID, Traffic, and armed forces, along with district SSsP and representatives from the 15 Corps. The participating officers briefed the IGP on the security situation in their respective jurisdictions.
During the meeting IGP Birdi reviewed security measures along National Highways, railway tracks, and stations. He instructed officers to set up dynamic checkpoints (nakas), step up night patrolling at vulnerable locations, and intensify area domination. Emphasizing seamless inter-agency coordination, the IGP directed district heads to strengthen intelligence-driven operations, protect critical infrastructure, and closely monitor social media platforms to prevent the spread of rumors and misinformation that could disrupt public peace.
