Srinagar: Heavy overnight rainfall triggered flash floods in north Kashmir on Friday, inundating roads and damaging Government Primary School at Ganie Mohalla in Bandipora’s Saderkoot Bala, while affecting Brennar in Sopore without causing loss of life. The Meteorological Department recorded 24.6 mm of rain in Srinagar and 27.1 mm in Jammu, forecasting intermittent rain and thundershowers across the region until August 7. Maximum temperatures reached 31.4°C in Srinagar and 33.9°C in Jammu. Weather officials warned that heavy showers on August 2 and 3 could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones in vulnerable areas, advising public vigilance.
