Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has attached two immovable properties worth approximately ₹1.05 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers in Srinagar.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, police said that attached assets include a residential house and land at Pamposh Colony, Palpora, Noorbagh, belonging to Aqib Mushtaq Kenu, valued at around ₹50 lakh. The property has been attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with FIR No. 48/2022 registered at Police Station Safakadal. The accused is currently out on bail.
In a separate action, police attached a three-storeyed residential house, two commercial shops, and land at Pathar Masjid, Zainakadal, belonging to Altaf Ahmad Najar, alias T.K. Khan, with an estimated market value of ₹55 lakh. This action was taken under Section 68-F of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act in connection with FIR No. 32/2021 at Police Station Kral Khud. Najar is also under preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act and is currently lodged in custody.
In its statement police further said” investigations established that both properties were acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking”. The attachments were executed in the jurisdictions of Police Post Noorbagh and Police Station M.R. Gunj following approval from the Competent Authority (SAFEMA), New Delhi, aiming to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks.
