Jammu, July 30: Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) will remain completely suspended on Friday, July 31, to facilitate restoration and widening works, Traffic Police Headquarters J&K said.
According to an advisory, District Magistrate Udhampur dated 30-07-2026 and District Magistrate Ramban dated 30-07-2026 have accorded permission to NHAI for widening of the hill-side carriageway at Ladha, Samroli and removal of loose overhanging debris near Gangroo, Kishtwari Pather on the Udhampur-Banihal stretch of NH-44.
In view of this,movement of all kinds of vehicles shall remain suspended between Jakheni, Udhampur and NAVYUG Tunnel, Banihal on July 31 to facilitate the restoration work.
Consequently, no vehicle will be allowed to proceed beyond Nagrota, Jammu towards Srinagar, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Patnitop etc, and vice versa, and beyond Qazigund towards Ramban, Udhampur and Jammu after 10:00 PM today, July 30.
Officials said the measure has been taken on the request of NHAI to ensure the safety of commuters and drivers plying on NH-44.
Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly.(GNS)
