Srinagar, July 27: The Jammu–Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remained blocked on Monday morning due to a landslide at Dewal in Udhampur district, while restoration work was underway, officials said.
According to the Traffic Police, the highway continues to remain closed for vehicular movement following the landslide, with authorities working to clear the debris and restore connectivity.
The Traffic Police has advised commuters to avoid undertaking any journey on the highway until it is declared safe and reopened for traffic, warning of the possibility of further landslides and shooting stones along the route.
“People are requested not to pay heed to rumours and verify the status of the highway through the Traffic Police’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Facebook page, Traffic Control Units (TCUs), or helpline numbers before planning their travel,” the Traffic Police said.
The department has urged commuters to stay updated through official channels until normal traffic movement resumes.
