The passenger tempo (Registration No. JK06B-9842) was on its way from Srinagar to Doda when it came under a barrage of falling stones while passing through the vulnerable Gangroo stretch. The impact caused severe injuries to the occupants, triggering an immediate emergency response.
On receiving information about the incident, SSP Ramban Arun Gupta and a team of the District Administration, led by Additional Deputy Commissioner RambanVarunjeet Singh Charak, along with officers and rescue teams, rushed to the spot and supervised the rescue operation. The injured were immediately evacuated and shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Ramsoo, where they were provided first aid before being referred to District Hospital Ramban for advanced treatment. Despite the best efforts of the medical teams, two of the injured succumbed to their injuries.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan visited District Hospital Ramban to monitor treatment of the injured. He interacted with doctors, patients and attendants and directed the Chief Medical Officer and Medical Superintendent, District Hospital Ramban, to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured and extend every possible assistance to the affected families.
The DC expressed deep grief over the loss of two precious lives and conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
