Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has attached 10 immovable properties worth approximately ₹8 crores belonging to habitual drug peddlers.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Police said that acting in accordance with Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, Police Station Nowhatta attached properties identified as illegally acquired assets generated through the proceeds of narcotics trafficking.
“The attached assets—spanning Hawal, Nowhatta, Rainawari, and Qamarwari—include multi-storeyed residential houses built on land ranging from 4 to 7 marlas, valued between ₹55 lakh and ₹95 lakh each”, The Police Statement reads. The individuals whose properties were attached include Sajad Ahmad Sheikh, Hajra Begum, Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh, Fahmeeda, Abdul Ahad Sheikh, Gh. Nabi Sheikh, Altaf Ahmad Sheikh, Hyder Ali Wani, Shakeel Ahmad Sheikh, and Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh, all of whom are linked to multiple cases under the NDPS Act.
In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to dismantle economic foundations of the drug trade, appealing people therein to share information regarding narcotics trafficking with local police or through dedicated help lines, assuring therein that identity of informants will remain strictly confidential.
