Experts call on engineering students to embrace innovation, continuous learning, and emerging technologies

Srinagar : The “Alumni Back to Classroom (ABC)” initiative at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, organized in collaboration with the Alumni Association (AANITS), hosted a seminar focused on “Transforming India’s Energy and Manufacturing Landscape Through Smart Automation.”

The keynote speaker, Er. Amit Kumar, an esteemed alumnus and Business Unit Head at Schneider Electric India, emphasized the rapid transformation in India’s energy and manufacturing sectors driven by digital technologies and smart automation. Director Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia highlighted the importance of alumni as role models who can expose students to emerging technologies and industry best practices, urging them to leverage such interactions for future leadership roles. Registrar Prof. Atikur Rehman noted that the initiative reflects the institute’s vision of fostering a robust alumni network that enhances academic and professional development. Er. Amit Kumar shared insights from his extensive experience, stressing the significance of Industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, and sustainable engineering solutions. He encouraged students to embrace continuous learning and ethical engineering practices, asserting that engineers play a vital role in achieving India’s energy security and manufacturing goals. The interactive session allowed participants, including faculty, students, and industry professionals, to engage meaningfully with the speaker, bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs. Dean Prof. M. A. Shah reiterated the initiative’s goal of enhancing alumni engagement and providing students with valuable mentorship opportunities. The program, coordinated by key faculty and alumni, concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the initiative’s success in strengthening the connection between academia and industry while equipping young engineers with essential knowledge and perspectives on emerging technologies.
