DLSA Budgam conducts 3rd UTRC Meeting for Year 2026

B’gam :  District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Budgam, convened its 3rd quarterly UTRC meeting for the year 2026 in the office Chamber of Chairman DLSA Budgam, Tuesday.

The meeting was chaired by O.P Bhagat, Principal District & Sessions Judge (Chairman, DLSA) Budgam, who brought together key stakeholders from the judiciary, police, administration, and medical fraternity to address the significant issue of ensuring fair and expedited trials for under trial prisoners. The collaborative forum underscores the importance of a collective approach in safeguarding the rights of individuals awaiting trial.

Three cases involving under trial prisoners already identified as per SOPs were meticulously reviewed. Each case underwent thorough discussion and deliberation to understand the specific circumstances. The committee formulated recommendations aimed at streamlining the judicial process and upholding principles of equity and justice.

O.P. Bhagat emphasized the vital role of UTRC meetings in strengthening the criminal justice system and protecting the fundamental rights of under trial prisoners. He stressed on the importance of ongoing initiatives to ensure a fair and efficient legal process, promoting justice and transparency.

DLSA Budgam remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring fair and speedy trials for under trial prisoners. The UTRC meetings serve as a crucial mechanism in this endeavor, contributing significantly to a more equitable and efficient Legal system.

The meeting was convened by Tabassum Qadir Parray, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Budgam, and attended by Primrose Bashir, SDM Chadoora; Suhaib Ashraf, CPO Budgam; Shakeel Ahmad, Collector Defense; Sajad Malik, Dy Superintendent Police HQ, Budgam; Shahbaz Hussain, Dy Superintendent Central Jail Srinagar; Saalim Javid, Sr. PO, DPO Budgam; Dr. Suhail Jan Senior, Medical Officer, Central Jail Srinagar; Manzoor Ahmad Lone, I/C Legal Aid Section CJ Srinagar and Lateef Ahmad Khan, Chief LADC, Budgam.
