Shopian : Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW), Mission Shakti, Shopian on Monday organized an awareness programme under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative at Heerpora.

The programme focused on sensitizing participants about the importance of protecting, educating and empowering girls while fostering gender equality and eliminating gender-based discrimination.

Resource persons highlighted the objectives of the BBBP campaign and stressed the collective responsibility of society in ensuring equal opportunities for girls in education, healthcare and overall development.

Participants were also informed about various women-centric welfare schemes being implemented under Mission Shakti. Awareness was created regarding women safety measures and protection mechanisms, including the Women Helpline (181), Child Helpline (1098) and other support services available for women and children.

The event concluded with an interactive session during which participants raised queries and shared their views. The programme ended with a renewed pledge to build a safe, inclusive and gender-equal society through collective community participation and sustained awareness efforts.
