Glazed Masters On Social Media
Srinagar: Welcome to Kashmir’s latest summer blockbuster: The Great Invisible Current. Across the Valley residents are experiencing an elite level of sauna living, courtesy of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (KPDCL).
The real stars of the season are the newly installed smart meters. Locals report these high-tech gadgets are doing an excellent job of measuring absolutely zero electricity. Residents proudly shell out Rs 2,500 a month just to watch their meters look sleek and ornamental in the blistering heatwave. Meanwhile, tech-dependent shopkeepers have mastered the ancient art of staring blankly into the dark.
KPDCL previously assured everyone that infrastructure upgrades would fix the grid. Technically, they did—power cuts are now completely unpredictable instead of scheduled! As temperatures soar, households are learning that “smart technology” doesn’t actually guarantee power; it just means you need to be smart enough to find a manual hand fan.
