Bandipora, July 8: The search operation to trace and retrieve the body of a 10-year-old boy who accidentally drowned in the Kishanganga River in the Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district entered its second day on Wednesday.

Officials told that personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) resumed the search operation early this morning to locate the body of Babar Bashir Sheikh, son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Sheikhpora, Tulail.

The boy had accidentally drowned in the Kishanganga River near Sheikhpora in Tulail on Tuesday, following which SDRF teams launched a rescue and search operation.

Despite sustained efforts on the first day, the body could not be retrieved due to the strong river current and challenging conditions. The operation continued on Wednesday with SDRF teams intensifying the search in the area.

Further details are awaited as the operation is still in progress.
