Srinagar, July 6: The Meteorological Department has forecast generally cloudy weather with intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershowers across Jammu and Kashmir from July 6 to 8, with the possibility of heavy rainfall and brief intense showers at several places.
According to the MeT Department, the Jammu division is likely to witness widespread rain and thundershowers, with heavy showers expected at a few locations, particularly during late afternoon, evening and early morning hours. Several districts of the Kashmir division may also receive light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by brief intense showers, mainly during the afternoon and early morning.
From July 9 to 12, weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with intermittent spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers continuing at many places. Brief intense heavy showers are also likely at isolated locations.
The MeT Department has issued an advisory warning that heavy rainfall or brief intense showers during July 6–8 could trigger localized flash floods, landslides and mudslides, especially in vulnerable areas of the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal Range.
People have been advised to avoid venturing near nallahs, streams, and landslide-prone areas during the forecast period as a precautionary measure.
