Directs expeditious installation of Mobile Network Towers to strengthen connectivity

Doda : Deputy Commissioner (DC) Doda and Chairman, District Level Telecom Committee (DLTC) Krishan Lal Saturday  chaired a meeting of District Level Telecom Committee to review the status of telecom infrastructure and mobile network connectivity across the district.

During the meeting, the DC conducted a comprehensive review of the progress achieved under various telecom connectivity initiatives, including implementation of the C-BuD application, Samridh Panchayat and Gram connectivity projects, the status of applications received through the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) online portal for installation of Ground Based Towers (GBTs), installation of temporary mobile network connectivity at major tourist destinations, provision of electricity connections to mobile towers, deployment of 5G Street Furniture, progress under the Amended BharatNet Programme and issues related to land allotment for telecom infrastructure.

The DC reviewed the progress of installation of mobile network towers in uncovered and poorly connected areas and directed all concerned departments and telecom service providers to expedite the installation and commissioning of pending towers to ensure improved digital connectivity, particularly in remote and underserved areas of the district.

Emphasizing the importance of seamless mobile and internet connectivity for governance, education, healthcare, emergency services, tourism and overall socio-economic development, the DC instructed all stakeholder departments to work in close coordination to resolve bottlenecks relating to land allotment, power supply and statutory clearances. He stressed that all pending issues should be addressed in a time-bound manner to facilitate the early completion of telecom infrastructure projects.

The DC also underscored the need to accelerate the implementation of the Amended BharatNet Programme to strengthen broadband connectivity in rural areas and emphasized the timely disposal of applications received through the DoT online portal. He further directed the concerned agencies to ensure reliable mobile connectivity at major tourist destinations through temporary network solutions, wherever required and to facilitate the rollout of 5G infrastructure across the district.
