Dedicated Yatra transmission to provide live updates, advisories, devotional programming across multiple platforms

Srinagar :Akashvani Srinagar on Thursday inaugurated its Special Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026 Transmission, commissioning a dedicated state-of-the-art broadcast studio aimed at providing uninterrupted radio and digital coverage of the annual pilgrimage.
The special studio was inaugurated by Shri Gurbinder Singh, Deputy Director General (Engineering) and Head of Office, in the presence of senior officers from the engineering and programme wings. The initiative is aimed at ensuring seamless, high-quality broadcast services for yatris and devotees throughout the pilgrimage period.
Describing the initiative as a major technological advancement, Gurbinder Singh said the special transmission is designed to cover one of the country’s most challenging pilgrimage routes across both the Baltal and Pahalgam axes.
He said the objective is to make the broadcast accessible not only to pilgrims on the ground but also to devotees across the country and abroad through multiple terrestrial and digital platforms.
Officials said the special SANJY 2026 broadcast will be available through 103.7 MHz FM Baltal, 100.1 MHz FM Pahalgam, the NewsonAir app, DTH services, the WAVES OTT platform, and the Akashvani Aradhana Channel.
To strengthen connectivity in the challenging Himalayan terrain, two special FM transmitters have been installed at Baltal and Pahalgam to ensure reliable coverage along the entire route to the Holy Cave, including remote high-altitude stretches.
The special transmission will feature devotional music, live updates from base camps and Yatra routes, interviews with pilgrims and officials, feature programmes, weather bulletins, traffic advisories and other public-interest information to facilitate the pilgrimage.
Akashvani Srinagar said the initiative reflects its continued commitment to leveraging modern broadcasting technology for timely, authentic and comprehensive coverage of one of India’s most revered spiritual pilgrimages. Through its expanded terrestrial and digital outreach, the broadcaster aims to serve the information and devotional needs of yatris and listeners across India and abroad. PIB
