Budgam, June 29: As part of the comprehensive security arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY-2026), Budgam Police today conducted a high-intensity security preparedness mock drill based on multiple simulated attack scenarios.
The exercise was aimed at assessing the operational readiness, response capabilities, and inter-agency coordination of all stakeholders entrusted with ensuring the safety and security of the pilgrimage.
The mock drill simulated various high-risk terror attack contingencies, enabling participating agencies to rehearse coordinated tactical responses, emergency evacuation procedures, casualty management, area domination, and incident command protocols under realistic conditions.
The exercise witnessed the active participation of Budgam Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Fire & Emergency Services, Health Department, Civil Administration, and other allied agencies. The seamless coordination and swift response demonstrated during the exercise reflected the high level of preparedness and interoperability among the participating forces. Senior officers closely monitored the drill and reviewed the response mechanisms, communication systems, and coordination procedures to identify areas for further strengthening. The exercise also provided an opportunity to validate existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and reinforce the effectiveness of the multi-agency security framework established for SANJY-2026.
Police remains fully committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and peaceful environment for all pilgrims, visitors, and local residents during the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Regular mock drills, joint exercises, and scenario-based training programmes will continue to be conducted to maintain the highest standards of operational preparedness and ensure a swift, coordinated, and effective response to any security challenge.
