MLA Sagar chairs meeting of Committee on Assurances

Srinagar :A formal meeting of the Committee on Assurances was held Thursday at the Assembly Secretariat, Srinagar, under the chairmanship of MLA Ali Mohammad Sagar.
MLA Iftkar Ahmad, Waheedur Rehman Para, Shabir Ahmad Kullay along with senior officers from the Assembly Secretariat were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, the Chairman underscored the vital role of the Committee on Assurances in ensuring the effective implementation of assurances, promises and commitments made by the Government on the floor of the House. He emphasized that the Committee serves as an important mechanism for monitoring the progress of such assurances and ensuring their timely fulfillment.
The Chairman stressed the need for greater accountability among the government departments in implementing the assurances entrusted to them. He directed that all the concerned departments should make concerted efforts to ensure that pending assurances are implemented within a stipulated period of three months.
The members of the Committee also echoed the Chairman’s vision regarding the significance of the Committee and highlighted the need for strengthening the monitoring framework. They offered valuable suggestions aimed at improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the Committee’s functioning.
The Committee further resolved to hold regular meetings to review the status of assurances and facilitate their timely implementation, thereby ensuring better results and enhanced accountability in governance.
The meeting concluded with a commitment from all members to work collectively towards achieving the objectives of the Committee and strengthening the system of legislative oversight.
