Jammu: Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu Wednesday thanked the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti for her unwavering support to initiate various radical fiscal reforms in the State which, he said, have now started bearing the fruit.
“I am grateful to the Chief Minister for having reposed faith in me to set-off radical fiscal reforms and fortunately these measures have now started paying dividends with significant improvement in the State’s fiscal health and public expenditure management system,” Dr Drabu said while replying to the discussion on the Budget in the Upper House this morning.
He said the interventions made in the State’s financial system during the past 3 years have immensely helped improve public expenditure management and the time has now come to take the benefits of these fiscal gains to the people at the grassroots level. “That is what we have tried to do in this budget by reaching out to every section of the society,” he said.
Dr Drabu also expressed gratitude to his cabinet colleagues for providing him with timely and valuable inputs concerning their departments and general public in run up to the Budget preparation helping him to make the budgetary exercise more comprehensive and inclusive.
He thanked the Legislators, from both the treasury and the opposition benches, for the exhaustive debate in both the Houses on the Budget proposals, acknowledging that the Government has benefitted a lot from their valuable inputs.
“I am also grateful to the stakeholders including industrialists, businessmen, traders, employees and other sections of the society and last but not the least, the media for their valuable inputs and positive reactions on the Budget,” he said.
