Baramulla, June 17: District Police Baramulla on Wednesday issued an advisory for media persons, local news portals, social media handlers, freelance journalists and content creators, urging them to exercise caution while recording, publishing or circulating photographs and videos of police officers, security personnel, escorts, deployments and official movements.
According to the advisory, the publication of visuals revealing sensitive security details can compromise operational security, expose personnel to risks and assist hostile elements in identifying vulnerabilities.
Police advised that videos or photographs should not disclose or highlight security details of officers and protectees, deployment patterns and strength of police and security personnel, access control and frisking procedures, movement and evacuation plans, vehicle formations, escort arrangements, route security measures, communication equipment, command positions and tactical procedures.
The advisory also cautioned against sharing close-up visuals of officers or security personnel engaged in sensitive duties or any content that could reveal operational tradecraft and security arrangements.
District Police Baramulla stated that while media coverage of public events and official programmes is welcome, it should be carried out responsibly without compromising security concerns. It further advised media organizations and individuals to obtain prior permission wherever recording of police or security arrangements and officers on duty is involved.
Police urged all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the advisory, warning that any irresponsible publication or circulation of material prejudicial to security or public order may invite appropriate legal action.
The advisory, issued in the interest of security, officer safety and public order, seeks to ensure responsible reporting while safeguarding operational interests, officials said.
