MLA Slathia chairs PAC meeting; emphasizes Committee’s role in maintaining financial discipline

Jammu : Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Surjeet Singh Slathia, Monday chaired meeting of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) held Monday at the Assembly Secretariat here.

The meeting focused on streamlining the committee’s review processes and ensuring robust accountability across all government sectors.

Legislators Mubarik Gul, Shamim Firdous, Qaysar Jamshaid Lone, Altaf Ahmad Wani (Kaloo), Abdul Majeed Bhat (Larmi), Ranbir Singh Pathania, Ch. Mohammad Akram, Vikram Randhawa, Tanvir Sadik, besides Auditor General Tsewang Tharchin, Secretary JKLA Manoj Pandita along with officials from the Legislative Assembly were present in the meeting.

During the proceedings, the participating legislators assured full cooperation and commitment towards ensuring smooth and efficient functioning of the committee.

To expedite accountability, the Committee has strongly urged all government departments to cooperate proactively.

It was discussed that all the government departments are required to submit their detailed Action Taken Reports within a strict timeline of six months under the rule.

The Members of the committee actively apprised the meeting of their specific concerns and offered valuable, constructive suggestions to further improve the administrative oversight.

The Members also suggested to hold meetings on a regular, consistent basis to ensure the thoroughly paced discussion and resolution of all pending audit paragraphs.

Chairman, Surjeet Singh Slathia, emphasized the vital role of the Public Accounts Committee in maintaining the financial discipline. He assured that the panel will work diligently to address all the outstanding matters in a time-bound manner.
