DC Ramban reviews preparations for International Yoga Day 2026

Ramban : Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan on Saturday chaired a meeting of senior officers at the DC Office Complex to review preparedness and arrangements for International Yoga Day, to be observed on June 21, 2026, across the district under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”

During the meeting, it was decided that the main district-level function will be organised at the District Administrative Complex Maitra, while similar programmes will be held at Sub-Divisional, Tehsil and Block Headquarters, educational institutions and other designated locations across the district.

The Deputy Commissioner briefed officers about their respective roles and responsibilities and emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among all departments. He directed all officers to ensure maximum participation at the district-level function as well as at other designated venues.

The meeting was informed that a prelude programme will be organised at the tourist destination of Sanasar on June 19, 2026 to generate awareness and encourage public participation in yoga-related activities.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all line departments to make comprehensive arrangements well in advance, including logistics, seating, drinking water facilities, uninterrupted power supply, public address systems, sanitation and first-aid services.

Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr Shokat Hayat Mattoo, Assistant Commissioner (Development) Sheraz Ahmed, Dy SP Waqar Bhat, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar Headquarters, Chief Executive Officer Municipal Council Ramban, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and PWD, District Nodal Officer AYUSH, District Youth Services and Sports Officer and other officers concerned. Sub-Divisional Magistrates, Tehsildars and other field officers participated through virtual mode.
