Government and recognised private schools directed not to conduct internal assessments or term examinations from June 23 to June 27; violators face disciplinary action

Srinagar, Jun 13: The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has directed all government and recognised private schools across the Valley to suspend in-house examinations, internal assessments and term examinations for all classes during a five-day period coinciding with the observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.

In an official order, the DSEK said no examinations or assessments shall be conducted from June 23 to June 27, 2026, in view of the approaching month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

The order applies to all government-run and recognised private educational institutions in Kashmir and has been issued to ensure that students and educational institutions are able to observe the religious occasion without academic disruptions.

“Any deviation or non-compliance shall invite disciplinary action under rules,” the order said.

The decision is expected to affect examination schedules in schools across the Valley, with institutions likely to make suitable adjustments to their academic calendars in accordance with the directive.
