Srinagar: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, V.K. Birdi on Friday held a high-level security review meeting to enhance security measures for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, Muharram observances, and the Kheer Bhawani Mela. The meeting, held at the Police Control Room in Kashmir was attended senior officials from various security and civil departments, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF, BSF, and intelligence agencies.
During the deliberation at the top meeting officers presented their strategies regarding deployment, route security, intelligence coordination, traffic management, and emergency response plans. IGP Birdi emphasized the necessity of adhering to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implementing preventive measures to mitigate potential security risks, particularly at vulnerable locations along pilgrimage routes. He also reviewed contingency plans and disaster management strategies to ensure effective responses to any unforeseen incidents. In addressing the Muharram arrangements, Birdi highlighted the need for maintaining peace during religious processions and gatherings, directing officers to establish comprehensive security and traffic management plans while coordinating closely with community representatives. For the Kheer Bhawani Mela, he called for robust security measures and effective traffic regulation to facilitate a safe experience for devotees. Birdi underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration, urging all involved parties to maintain clear communication and a unified operational approach. He expressed confidence in the security preparations and reaffirmed the commitment of all agencies for successful and secure conduct of the upcoming events.
