Jammu : Director Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) Rajesh Kumar Shavan conducted an extensive visit to Village Bega, Panchayat Baspur, under the Vibrant Village Programme, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, aimed at the holistic development of villages situated along international border areas. The programme focuses on improving infrastructure, public services and livelihood opportunities to enhance the quality of life of border residents and ensure inclusive growth.

The Director was accompanied by Sub-Divisional Magistrate RS Pura Anuradha Thakur, Block Development Officer RS Pura Sahil Angral and officers of various line departments. During the visit, the Director chaired a meeting with officers from different departments, wherein he reviewed in detail the progress of ongoing projects and proposals for future developmental interventions. He also interacted with local residents and sought their feedback, suggestions and inputs regarding developmental priorities, public service delivery and infrastructure requirements.

MLA SuchetgarhGharu Ram Bhagat was also present at the meeting. He highlighted various developmental concerns and issues faced by the villagers and stressed the need for timely execution of infrastructure and public utility projects to improve the quality of life of the residents.

During the deliberations, the Nodal Officer apprised the meeting of the proposed construction of a link road and a nallah in the village. The Director directed the Public Works Department (PWD) officers concerned to prepare the requisite estimates and initiate further action for the execution of these projects at the earliest.

Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to the holistic development of border villages, the Director emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination and effective implementation of developmental schemes under the Vibrant Village Programme. He called upon all departments to work in close coordination to ensure timely completion of projects and enhanced delivery of public services for the benefit of the local population.

Following the meeting, the Director, accompanied by MLA SuchetgarhGharu Ram Bhagat, SDM RS Pura Anuradha Thakur, BDO RS Pura Sahil Angral, the Nodal Officer and officers of various line departments, conducted an on-site tour of Village Bega. The team inspected various locations across the village to assess the existing infrastructure and identify critical developmental gaps requiring immediate attention. During the tour, the officers interacted with local residents and gathered first-hand information regarding their developmental needs and priorities, which will be considered while formulating and implementing future developmental interventions under the Vibrant Village Programme.

The visit reflects the administration’s continued focus on strengthening infrastructure, improving civic amenities and accelerating socio-economic development in villages covered under the Vibrant Village Programme.
