Civil Engineering deptt clinches Inter-Deptt Cricket Tournament 2026 title at NIT Srinagar

Srinagar, :  The Civil Engineering Department at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar triumphed in the Inter-Department Cricket Tournament 2026, defeating the Electrical Engineering Department by 60 runs in the final match.

The Civil Engineering team, after winning the toss, chose to bat first and set a formidable total of 210 runs in 15 overs, largely thanks to Adnan’s outstanding performance, scoring 112 runs off 42 balls. He received support from Abu Bakar and Ahsan-ul-Haq, who contributed 35 and 32 runs, respectively. In response, the Electrical Engineering Department managed to score 149 runs for the loss of eight wickets, with Vipin leading their efforts with 40 runs. Ahsan-ul-Haq excelled with the ball for Civil Engineering, taking three wickets, while Abu Bakar added two more to secure the victory. The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony where Prof. Binod Kumar Kanaujia, the Director of NIT Srinagar, congratulated the winning team and all participants for their sportsmanship and competitive spirit. He emphasized the importance of such events in fostering teamwork and discipline among students. Prof. Atikur Rehman, the Registrar, highlighted the significance of extracurricular activities in student life, while Dr. Shashikant, Associate Dean of Students’ Welfare, praised the students’ enthusiasm and commitment. The event was well-attended, marking it as one of the most engaging sporting events of the academic year.
