Kulgam:  In a remarkable achievement under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, the District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Kulgam has established itself as one of the leading drug de-addiction facilities in Jammu & Kashmir and among the best de-addiction centres in India.
Since its establishment, DDAC Kulgam has been providing comprehensive and free-of-cost treatment and rehabilitation services to individuals struggling with substance abuse. The centre has a capacity of 15 beds and has consistently operated at full capacity, reflecting both the growing need for its services and the trust it has earned among the people.
The centre has successfully treated 795 patients from almost all districts of Jammu & Kashmir, making it a preferred destination for de-addiction treatment in the Union Territory. Its impressive success rate and patient-centred approach have contributed significantly to its reputation as a model de-addiction facility.
Beyond clinical treatment, DDAC Kulgam has undertaken extensive outreach and rehabilitation efforts. The centre has conducted nearly 5,000 individual counselling sessions, helping patients address addiction-related challenges and maintain long-term recovery. It has also organized approximately 2,000 awareness programmes across communities, educational institutions, and public forums to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and the importance of prevention.
In addition, the centre has carried out around 1,200 home visits to ensure continuous support and follow-up care for recovering individuals. Recognizing the crucial role of families in the rehabilitation process, DDAC Kulgam has conducted nearly 3,000 family counselling sessions, strengthening family support systems and improving treatment outcomes.
The achievements of DDAC Kulgam stand as a testament to the dedication and commitment of its healthcare professionals, counsellors, and support staff. Through its holistic approach to treatment, rehabilitation, counselling, and awareness generation, the centre continues to play a pivotal role in realizing the vision of a drug-free society under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
With its outstanding performance, extensive community outreach, and high recovery success rate, DDAC Kulgam has become a beacon of hope for individuals and families affected by substance abuse, setting a benchmark for de-addiction services across Jammu & Kashmir and the country.
