Rajouri, June 16: A massive anti-terror operation jointly conducted by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF has entered its 14th consecutive day in the dense forested areas of Gambhir Mughlan and Dorimal in the Manjakote sector of Rajouri district.
Security forces have stepped up search efforts across the region, carrying out thorough checks of vehicles and verifying the identity cards of locals and travellers as part of heightened security measures.
The operation, named Operation Sheruwali, was launched on the basis of specific intelligence inputs suggesting the presence of suspected terrorists in the area. Officials said security personnel have established a strong cordon to prevent any escape while search teams continue combing the rugged terrain.
The operation witnessed intense action on May 28 when heavy gunfire and shelling broke out in the Dorimal forest belt after forces tightened the siege around the suspected militants believed to be hiding in the area. Search operations are continuing as forces work to locate and neutralise the suspects.
