“Trash to Treasure” Exhibition organized at GCOE Srinagar on World Environment Day 2026

Srinagar : Government College of Education, Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (GCOE-IASE), M.A. Road, Srinagar, organized a “Trash to Treasure” Exhibition on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026.

The event was jointly organized by the Department of Environmental Sciences (EVS) and the NSS Units of the college at the Front Park.

The exhibition featured innovative and creative items prepared by B.Ed. 1st Semester and UG 4th Semester students using waste and discarded materials. Through their exhibits, the students highlighted the importance of waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and sustainable living practices.

Prof. (Dr.) Seema Naz, Principal GCOE-IASE Srinagar, visited the exhibition stalls and interacted with the participating students. She highly appreciated their creativity, innovation, and commitment to environmental conservation. Emphasizing the importance of sustainable living, she encouraged students to adopt eco-friendly practices in their daily lives and to become responsible ambassadors of environmental protection within their communities. She also commended the efforts of the Department of Environmental Studies and NSS Units for organizing the exhibition and providing students with a meaningful platform to showcase their talents while promoting environmental awareness.

The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage eco-friendly practices among the college community. It also served as a platform for students to demonstrate how waste materials can be transformed into useful and artistic products, reinforcing the message of responsible resource management and sustainability.

The exhibition received an enthusiastic response from students and faculty members and successfully conveyed the significance of environmental stewardship, responsible waste management, and sustainable living.

Among the faculty members present on the occasion were Dr. Altaf Shah Syed (NSS Programme Officer), Dr. Shawana Manzoor (Department of Environmental Studies), Dr. Ab. Gani Kumar (Department of Urdu), Dr. Lateef Shah (Department of Education), Dr. Abdul Rashid (Department of History), Dr.Irfat Khan (Department of Psychology), Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Dar (Department of Geography), Dr.Gousia Nisar (Department of Education), Dr.Shabeena (Department of English), Dr. Syed Shabana Shabir (Department of Hindi), along with other faculty members.
