Ramban :The Department of Agriculture on Friday organized a series of awareness programmes under the ongoing month-long Khet Bachao Abhiyan to educate farmers about soil health management, balanced fertilizer use and sustainable agricultural practices.

The awareness events were held at Village Ramsoo(Ukhral) and Panchayat Khari Lower-.

Over 50 farmers participated in the programme at the twin venues. The awareness session was attended by Scientist KVK Raj Kumar and Assistant Entomologist Jammu Harvinder Singh. They interacted with the farmers and highlighted the importance of soil test-based fertilizer application, integrated nutrient management and the adoption of scientific farming practices for enhancing crop productivity while maintaining long-term soil fertility.

The farmers were sensitized about the judicious use of fertilizers, integrated pest management, soil conservation measures and the harmful effects of excessive chemical fertilizer application on soil health and agricultural sustainability. The resource persons also informed farmers about the initiatives of the Agriculture Department aimed at promoting climate-resilient and environmentally sustainable agriculture.

The officers also addressed farmers’ queries and encouraged them to adopt recommended agricultural practices to improve productivity and safeguard soil health.
