6 NDPS Cases Registered in Ang : Police

Anantnag: Police on Thursday said that it has registered six cases under the NDPS Act, arrested four persons, seized contraband substances and destroyed illegal poppy cultivation at multiple locations.
In a statement issued here on Thursdau Police said that a naka party at SarnalBala recovered 1.134 kilograms of charas powder from the possession of Mohsin Irshad Want of Anchidora. In a separate operation at Pazalpora, Bijbehara police arrested Junaid Ahmad Khan of Uranhall and recovered 88 grams of charas sticks.
Another accused, Shakeel Ahmad Khan of KehribalRanbirpora, was arrested after police recovered 205 grams of charas powder-like substance from his possession during checking on the Pando-Lad Wantrag Road. Similarly, police in Utrasoo apprehended Umar Qadir Sheikh and recovered 54 grams of charas-like substance.
Apart from the seizures, police launched operations against illegal cultivation of narcotic crops in Achabal and Kokernag. Acting on specific inputs teams destroyed opium poppy crops found growing in agricultural fields and registered separate cases under the NDPS Act.
