Sopore, June 04, : n a major action against the narcotics ecosystem, Sopore Police have attached immovable property worth ₹22,49,046 belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
The attached property belongs to Suhail Ahmad Zargar alias Lala, S/O Bashir Ahmad Zargar, R/O Behrampora, Rafiabad, who has been involved in narcotics trafficking and related activities.
During the course of investigation and financial scrutiny, Sopore Police established that the attached property had been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking. Accordingly, the property was identified and attached in accordance with the provisions of law.
The action forms part of Sopore Police’s sustained strategy to target not only drug peddlers but also the financial infrastructure sustaining the narcotics trade. By depriving offenders of assets generated through illegal activities, the objective is to dismantle the economic foundations of drug networks and create an effective deterrent against narcotics trafficking.
Sopore Police has identified several more properties linked to notorious drug peddlers and narcotics traffickers across the district. The process for attachment of such illegally acquired assets is underway and more such actions are expected in the coming days.
Sopore Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to dismantling the entire narcotics ecosystem through a combination of strict enforcement, preventive action, financial investigation and community participation under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
