Anantnag, June 2: The search operation to trace the body of a Srinagar resident who drowned in the Lidder River while attempting to rescue his son in Pahalgam has been resumed by the authorities on Tuesday.
A Spokesperson said that teams of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Anantnag and SDRF Kulgam jointly resumed the search operation to retrieve the body of Mohd Ashraf Mir, a resident of Ikhrajpora, Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar.
They said that Mir had tragically drowned in the Lidder River at Langanbal area of Pahalgam on May 31 while trying to save his son from the river.
The officials added that rescue teams are conducting an extensive search operation along the river stretch to locate and retrieve the body. However, no breakthrough had been achieved till the filing of this report.
