Jammu :The Directorate of Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Jammu has constituted two Divisional-Level Committees to ensure effective implementation and monitoring of the month-long “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” campaign, commencing from Monday.
The campaign, being conducted under the supervision of Director Agriculture Jammu Anil Gupta, aims at promoting sustainable agricultural practices, awareness generation and saturation of farmer welfare schemes across Jammu Division.
The committees shall be responsible for planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of activities under the Abhiyan, with special emphasis on Natural Farming, dissemination of information regarding Kisan Credit Card (KCC), Soil Health Card (SHC), Pradhan Mantri FasalBima Yojana (PMFBY) and PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.
The committees would also educate farmers on balanced and judicious use of fertilizers, organic inputs, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides and quality seeds and pesticides.
The first committee, chaired by Joint Director (Extension Sanjay Anand, will monitor activities in Udhampur, Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda districts. Members include (Agriculture Economist) Tilak Raj Sharma, Raju Mahajan (PPO Jammu), Gopal Krishan (Seed Analyst), Harvinder Singh (Assistant Entomologist Jammu), R.P. Kochar (MDO Jammu), ChanderShekher Sharma (Assistant Soil Chemist) and Vivek Mahajan (Programme Officer).
The second committee, headed by Joint Director Agriculture (SLUB) Aman Jyoti Sharma, would oversee campaign activities in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch districts. The members include Rakesh Sharma (DSSO Jammu), Karuna Nidhi (Dy. Director Trainings), Kuldeep Singh (ADLE Jammu), Neeraj Rajwal (Farm Management Specialist, FTC), Nirmal Prakash Sharma (DSCO Jammu), Arun Samyal (ASSO Jammu), Anurag Verma (Training Officer, FTC) and Ravinder Gupta (Assistant Agriculture Chemist).
The committees have been directed to conduct field inspections, maintain records of field demonstrations and media campaigns, and submit daily reports along with actionable recommendations to the Directorate through the Joint Director Agriculture (Extension), Jammu.
The initiative is expected to strengthen outreach efforts of the Agriculture Department and ensure wider adoption of sustainable farming practices and farmer-centric schemes across the Jammu Division.
