Srinagar : The two-day global alumni reunion SANGAM-3.0 commenced at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah extending his greetings and emphasizing the event’s potential to foster innovation, mentorship, and collaboration. Organized by the Office of Dean Alumni and International Affairs in partnership with the Alumni Association, the reunion aims to enhance alumni engagement and reconnect former students with the institution. The inaugural ceremony featured traditional elements such as the National Anthem and the lighting of a ceremonial lamp, welcoming alumni, guests, and dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Omar Abdullah praised NIT Srinagar for its robust alumni network and expressed confidence that SANGAM-3.0 would contribute to the academic and professional growth of both the institution and the region. Director Prof. B K Kanaujia highlighted the importance of alumni as a source of pride and strength, noting their role in enhancing the institute’s reputation through shared achievements and future aspirations. Prof. Atikur Rehman, the Institute Registrar, emphasized the significance of the alumni meet for fostering meaningful interactions among alumni, faculty, and students, while Dean Prof. M A Shah remarked on the strong bond alumni maintain with the institute, despite geographical distances. The event is designed not only as a reunion but also as a platform for promoting innovation, academic collaboration, and mentorship. Er Malay Chatterjee, President of the Alumni Association, referred to alumni as “torch bearers” of the institution, urging them to stay connected through various contributions. Guest of Honor Er. Chaudhary Muhammad Ikram recognized the event as a bridge between the government and the alma mater, while Er Talat Parvaz highlighted the role of technical institutions in shaping future leadership. The event also included the release of a publication titled “Bridges & Beacons: A Chronicle of NIT Srinagar,” documenting the institute’s journey and achievements. Alumni shared their professional experiences during the “Voices of Experience” session, inspiring current students. The day concluded with a cultural program featuring performances by students and alumni, showcasing the vibrant community at NIT Srinagar.
