Srinagar :Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo Wednesday  undertook a visit to Zewan area of District to oversee the progress of ongoing works being executed on construction of Migrant Transit Accommodation for PM Package Employees.  He also inspected progress of works on the new Revenue Complex to house Tehsil Office Panthachowk.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) was accompanied by various officials, including the Additional Deputy Commissioner and several engineers, to review the Migrant Transit Accommodation project at Zewan. The project consists of 39 accommodation blocks with a total of 936 flats, of which 33 blocks have been completed, and work on the remaining six is ongoing. The DC was informed that essential infrastructure, such as boundary walls, dormitories, security features, and internal roads, has been completed, along with the installation of 39 distribution transformers and functional water supply. The DC inspected the installed lifts, noting that 10 have been commissioned, and directed the executing agency to expedite the installation of lifts in 16 additional blocks. He also instructed the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department to begin macadamization of the approach roads and emphasized the importance of coordination among all departments to ensure the project’s timely completion. Additionally, the DC visited Panthachowk to assess the construction of a new Tehsil Office complex, which is nearly 90 percent complete. This complex will house various administrative functions, including the Tehsildar’s Courtroom and a waiting area for visitors. The DC urged the executing agency to accelerate work to ensure the project is completed by early June 2026, aiming to enhance revenue service delivery and improve the working environment for staff.
