Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a resident of Delhi for involvement in drug peddling activities in Anantnag .
In a statement issued here on Thursday Police said that during routine checking at Halmulla, officers from Police Post Sangam apprehended a suspect identified as Arif Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Delhi currently living in Sangam Juggi Tents. Upon searching Sheikh, authorities recovered 240 grams of a substance resembling charas powder. In response to this incident, a case under FIR No. 126/2026 has been filed at Police Station Bijbehara, and further investigations are underway to explore both forward and backward linkages related to the drug trafficking operation. In its statement Police reiterated its commitment to address the drug menace in the region.
