Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has retrieved land worth ₹18 lakhs from a drug peddler in Kulgam district
In a statement issued here on Wednesday said that a police party from Police Station Qaimoh, alongwith officials of the District Administration, retrieved 06 Marlas of State land worth approximately ₹18 lakhs under Survey No. 303 situated at village Wanpora, District Kulgam.
The land was found under illegal encroachment by a drug peddler namely Mohd. Ramzan Sheikh son of Juma Sheikh resident of Wanpora, who is involved in FIR No. 69/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act and FIR No. 20/2023 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act registered at Police Station Qaimoh.
The retrieved land has been taken into possession by the concerned authorities under the relevant provisions of the J&K Land Revenue Act and other applicable laws. Necessary notices have also been affixed on the spot and further legal proceedings, as warranted under law, shall follow.
In its statement Police reiterated to continue its intensified action against drug peddlers and other anti-social elements, particularly those attempting to illegally occupy State land or derive proceeds from unlawful activities, appealing people therein to cooperate with Police by sharing credible information regarding drug trafficking and other criminal activities for ensuring a safer and drug-free society.
